I just saw this from a television critic regarding people shipping Sebtana:

“Big difference between shipping straight characters in same-sex relationships for fun, and taking one of the few queer characters in TV history and making them straight.”

I also saw a comment that stated people who ship Sebtana are homophobes. 

I don’t ship Brittana for a multitude of reasons. I don’t think they have chemistry. I think the Glee writers have made Brittany so stupid she should be placed in a school for the challenged. I think Santana manipulates her every chance she gets. I think Santana acknowledges she thinks Brittany is stupid when she makes statements such as “when did you get so smart” and telling people Brittany’s so vapid she needs “help crossing the street.” I think that ever since “Brittana” started happening, Santana has gone from mildly amusing to being a heinous bitch. I haven’t been able to feel one ounce of sympathy for her all of season 3. 

Now, I ship Sebtana not because I want to take two gay characters and make them straight, but because they have off-the-charts chemistry. I ship them because they have similar personalities which make them fascinating to watch. I ship them because there is no way in hell they can push each other around. Sebastian has the kind of personality I’ve always wanted Santana with. Someone who is as fiery as she is. (And before I get accused of being a homophobe, I’ll add that if Quinn was made bi instead of Brittany, Quinntana would be my #1 ship…because Quinn would be a better match for Santana.)

But I’m sorry, it’s absolute hypocrisy to state that shipping two straight characters together (i.e. Faberry) is perfectly fine because it’s “fun” but then acting like it’s a crime to ship two gay characters together. Check out the Sebtana tag, kids. Everyone in there is perfectly aware that it’s a crackship. But I guess only certain groups of this fandom are allowed to have “fun.”
